Madarkonta Caves

It is situated at a distance of about 39 kms from Jagdalpur in the Madarkonta village of Chidpal gram panchayat. Due to the name of the village being Mandarkonta, the cave has been named Mandarkonta Cave. Surrounded by dense forest the cave is 300m long and holds many large halls inside. To get to the cave, you have to pass through narrow passages. Columns of stalactite and stalagmite have formed inside the cave which enhance the beauty of the cave, these pillars are shiny to see. There are many idols present inside the caves which are worshipped by the local tribal community. Time to time the local people practice the traditional ceremony which is called Jatra.
