Bastar has always been liberal towards the flourishing of all faiths. Recently, during an archaeological exploration and excavation at Kurushpal, relics of Jainism have been found. A Jain temple dated back to the 7th century has been excavated from the site.
Some relics related to Buddhism faith have also been excavated from Bhongpal. This clearly shows the influence of Jainism and Buddhism sects on Bastar region.
