Dandak Cave

Discovered in April 1995 by a forest official, Dandak Cave is a colossal, splendid cave of Kanger Valley National Park. Kanger Dhara runs parallel to the path of Dandak Cave. This cave’s length is more than 200 m and depth is 20-25 m, with incredible rock formation at its entrance. As soon as you enter through its entrance, the empire of darkness welcomes you. The chambers of Dandak Cave have giant dripstone formations with beautiful crystal stalactites and stalagmites.
Plant remains, burnt earth, charcoal were recorded from Dandak and Kotumsar Caves of Kanger Valley National Park. The carbon dating of these materials indicates that these caves were the dwelling sites of prehistoric men at around 7000 BC. For these reasons, Dandak Cave is preserved for research purposes.
During monsoon, Dandak Cave is closed and gets reopened from 16 October to 15 June every year.
