Chingitarai

On the way to Konta from Jagdalpur , 35 kms. away from Block headquarter, is Development headquarter, Darbha. A road connects from Darbha to Chindawada, Chingitarai, Chandragiri, Pakhnaar Katekalyan and Dantewada. 8 kms. away from Darbha on this road, westwards, is—‘Chingitarai’. Local people refer to it as Devarli Chingitarai. ‘Tarai’ means lake, ‘Devarli’ means ‘of deva’.
This place has a lake and a Shiva temple nearby. From the archaeological point of view, the Shiva temple of Chingitarai Devarli is a precious heritage of architecture and from the historical point of view, it is an exemplary sample of ancient culture and civilization. This temple is a contemporary of Khajuraho temple and constructed in Besar style. A mela is also organized here on the occasion of Mahashivratri.
